An Engineer Imagines*
We are a team working in the field of Creative Structural Engineering and we have important issues to share with you. Some topics that will show the importance of Creative Engineering concept.
For each structural engineer there is a material that they feel close to in their hearts. For me there are two: Steel and Timber. Until I learned steel design analysis in the senior year of my university education, I was thinking about leaving engineering and becoming a cinema director and I believe this explains how much steel and detail means to me.
I would like to talk about our lectures and sharing with undergraduate and graduate students from different semesters in ITU Architecture Department. As a structural design engineer, I started these lectures considering the benefits they might provide to architecture and structural engineering fields as well as to students’ future.
What is a project that cannot be applied on site? It stays a project, an idea or a design. It cannot become structure. That is why constructible design, is very critical for us.
Our Director Ahmet Topbaş has joined Arredamento’s 2017 issue with an article that examines the relationship between Engineers and Architects through two of ATEKNIK Structural Design’s own projects as “Chief and Virtuoso”.

We started to translate the missing articles about our profession in the Turkish part of Wikipedia in order to contribute to the cultural dimension of the profession of structural engineering. Peter Rice, who brought a creative perspective to structural engineering, was obviously at the top of our list.
This year there are some important developments about New York’s 200-year-old Mount Morris Fire Watchtower in which we take part of its restoration team.
We want to talk about the “Prinkipo” Greek Orphanage in Büyükada and to share its current situation due to our interest in the wooden constructions.
Steel structures in Turkey are on the rise. TUCSA, Turkish Construction Steel Association has a great contribution. In the past, our steel construction stock was limited to industrial constructions, stadium roofs and bridges and it is leaped to other types of buildings, especially architectural constructions. We have the courage. A lot of problems are awaiting solution, but architects, engineers, employers look at steel more differently.
